Quote of the week for personal growth.

Personal Growth

Try not to become a man of success but a man of value – Albert Einstein

This quote speaks volumes about what drives the human race.  Often people get caught up in the “rat race” to get what they feel is “success”.  But what truly is success and how does one define it?  The dictionary defines success as “The accomplishment of an aim or purpose”.  Too often people view success as trying to get the most money, the most prestigious job, the biggest home on the block etc.  They view their purpose in life as beating out their peers to be the top competitor and feeling that this is truly what it means to be successful.

What it means.

What the infamous Einstein is saying in this quote is that success can often cloud our lives and disable us from being completely fulfilled.    Too often people wear themselves down by trying to be successful.  Instead of becoming susceptible to this rat race, make your purpose in life something that gives it value- that adds personal growth: something that will make your life well lived.  Your time on earth is short, and it is better to live a happy and healthy life than to spend your time on earth constantly wearing yourself down trying to become “successful”.  Volunteer, spend time with your family and friends, take time out of your day to meditate and eat a healthy meal.  These are all examples of things that will add value to your life and make it more fulfilling.

As always Love Deep, Eat Well, and stay excited about your life,

Similar to building a business – focus on building value instead of spending time. While building a company there are certain value creation milestones (i.e., forming a legal entity, building a team, filing IP, etc.) that are recognized among business builders and those who assess the value of a business. I wonder if there are similar value creation milestones for personal development or if it’s completely subjective?
